CDC Victoria announces an exciting new 3-year project partnership with Parks Victoria, and bus industry supporters: Volvo Bus group, and CMV Bus group; to sponsor the development of Australia’s 1st Dementia-friendly forest and sensory trail in Woowookarung regional park in Ballarat.
Since announcing its TAKE2 pledge to address climate change, this is CDC’s second environmental project forming an important achievement in CDC’s journey towards reducing carbon emissions whilst linking people, places, and regional communities.
The first of its kind, the dementia-friendly sensory park and trail will form a key component to the Victorian state government’s ‘Healthy Parks, Healthy People’ plan to facilitate people of all abilities and their families to connect with nature.
The Woowookarung Regional Park (named: Place of Plenty) forms an iconic view as a breathtaking backdrop to Ballarat city. It is a long-term Victorian government project to create indigenous connections, physical, and environmental experiences that pay respect to the traditional owners of the land, conserve unique species, and build healthy community spaces.
As part of the partnership, CDC Victoria will also sponsor the leasing of a 13-seater electric people mover to enable communities particularly those with accessibility needs; to visit Victorian national parks.
