Victorian carers who hold a Victorian Carer Card (‘We Care’) or a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card with a Victorian address and CAR code (both pictured below), are eligible for free travel on public transport across the State during the 2022 Carers Week, from Sunday 16 October to Saturday 22 October 2022.
How to travel
Eligible carers must carry their Carers myki and either their Victorian Carer Card or Pensioner Concession Card at all times when travelling during the Victorian Carers Week.
Eligible carers are required to touch on and off as usual – fares during this period will not be deducted.
On regional services that don’t use myki, eligible carers should show their Victorian Carer Card or Pensioner Concession Card to the conductor or bus driver to receive free travel.
Where to travel
Eligible carers will be able to travel for free on all public transport in Victoria, including:
• Melbourne trains, trams and buses
• Regional trains, coaches and buses (including intertown and regional town bus services)
Free travel is limited to trips solely within Victoria. Airport buses and privately-run services are excluded from this offering.
NOTE: Carer Card holders from other Australian States and Territories are not eligible for free travel during Carers Week. Normal fares will apply.
