CDC Victoria’s Media Statement on Upcoming Industrial Action

CDC V Media Statement

CDC Victoria has received notification that the Independent Transport Union (ITU) intends to take protected industrial action on Friday, 12 September, Monday, 15 September, and Tuesday,16 September 2025.

This action will result in disruptions to some of our bus services in Melbourne’s West and South-East. We are doing everything we can to minimise the impact on passengers, but regrettably, there will be some disruptions to our bus services as a result of the industrial action. We strongly encourage passengers to check Transport Victoria’s website for affected routes.

It is worth noting the context in which this action is being contemplated.

On 7th September 2025, CDC Victoria’s offer of a guaranteed 13% wage increase over three years was declined. This offer was designed to ensure equal remuneration for both regional and metropolitan staff; equity across all depots is a key principle for the company. The offer was tabled in good faith, having carefully considered feedback from all Bargaining Representatives.

We have been actively negotiating the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement since January this year and remain committed to working constructively with Transport Workers Union (TWU) and Independent Transport Union (ITU) representatives, as well as our employees, to reach a fair and sustainable outcome.

CDC Victoria’s offer of a guaranteed 13% wage increase over three years was appropriate and compelling, aimed to provide wage certainty to the staff. The offer compares favourably against key economic indicators, including the cost-of-living pressure (CPI) at 11% and the National Minimum Wage increase at 10% over the last three years.

The final agreement must strike a balance between the concerns of our drivers and ensuring our business remains sustainable. CDC Victoria has also sought the assistance of the Fair Work Commission to facilitate the negotiations.

Our focus remains on listening to our workforce, minimising disruption for passengers, and maintaining reliable services across the network.
