At CDC Victoria, we are committed to making a positive impact within the communities we serve. This Easter, our Oakleigh depot team proudly supported Foodbank Australia — the nation’s largest food relief organisation.
Foodbank plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity, providing essential food and grocery relief to over one million Australians every month. Recognising the importance of their mission, our Oakleigh drivers and staff organised a month-long donation drive. A variety of grocery staples, everyday essentials, and non-perishable goods were generously contributed, filling an entire shuttle car with items destined for Foodbank’s warehouse in Yarraville.
Natalia Tame from CDC Oakleigh reflected on the initiative, saying,
“This was something the team initially wanted to organise as a Christmas initiative, but Taste of Harmony felt a more fitting occasion and resonated with our purpose.”
Her words capture the spirit of community and compassion that drives our team’s efforts.
The need for food relief remains urgent. According to the Foodbank Hunger Report 2023, 3.7 million Australian households experienced food insecurity in the past year, with the rising cost of living cited as the most common cause. Foodbank’s collaborative model, sourcing food from farmers, wholesalers, and retailers, ensures those most in need receive timely assistance.
Looking to the future, we are excited to deepen our partnership with Foodbank Victoria. Our vision is to expand this initiative across the state, with the ultimate goal of hopefully filling our Promo Bus with donations on future runs — helping to reach even more communities!
Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing efforts to support Foodbank and stand alongside our local communities.
