From 29th January 2017, there will be route changes to the entire Ballarat bus network. This will see improved frequency on selected routes, with services operating every 30 minutes.

New Ballarat bus network from 29th January 2017

Ballarat's buses are an easy way to see all of the city’s best attractions, sporting venues and shopping precincts.

All you need is a myki card and you’ll be ready to travel around the city. Not all regional towns and cities in Victoria utilise the myki ticketing system so please be mindful if travelling elsewhere to check the PTV website before boarding buses.

myki is Ballarat's ticket to travel on the city’s buses.

If travelling for more than one day, your myki can be instantly topped up at:

  • myki machines at all metropolitan train stations and some accessible tram stops and bus interchanges
  • customer service centres at staffed train stations
  • close to 800 retail outlets, including all 7-Eleven stores, where you see the myki sign
  • the PTV Hubs at Southern Cross Station and Docklands.

Always remember to touch on and off your myki as you board a bus.

Fares for travelling on buses are separated into zones.

Use the public transport maps to check what zones you are planning to visit and make sure you have enough value on your myki to cover your entire journey.

As you touch on and touch off your myki, the system automatically calculates the lowest fare for your trip.

Please note: your myki needs to be valid for each zone travelled in; however, when travelling in a zone boundary overlap, your myki can be valid for either zone.

Planning your journey

Use the PTV journey planner to help plan your journey from A to B. Simply enter your origin address, your destination address, the date and time you want to travel and click show journey. You will be provided with a step-by-step plan by public transport. You can even print it out and take it with you on your journey.

Free iPhone app

The free iPhone app lets you view service times, use the journey planner and set your favourite stops throughout Victoria for faster access to public transport information on the go.

All timetables are stored locally on your phone, so it doesn’t use your data pack / cap when using offline departures. Requesting over the air updates from the journey planner, alterations and tramTRACKER® will use your data.

Download the free iPhone app, Public Transport Victoria, from the iTunes Store.
